Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of Lens, the UX research repository at lensresearch.app. By creating a workspace or accepting an invitation into one, you agree to them on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, your organisation.
Last updated: 27 July 2026
The service
Lens provides a shared repository for user-research projects, interviews, participants, and insights, including optional AI-assisted features. “Lens”, “we” and “us” refer to Erik Niemeijer, based in the Netherlands, who operates Lens. Where your organisation has a signed agreement with us, that agreement prevails over these terms wherever they differ.
Accounts and access
- Workspace access is granted by invitation. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
- Workspace admins control membership, roles, and settings for their workspace, including who may use AI features.
- Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
Your data stays yours
- Your organisation retains all rights to the research content it stores in Lens. We claim no ownership of it.
- We process it only to provide the service, as described in our privacy statement and any data processing agreement in place.
- You can export your full repository at any time, and we delete account data after closure as set out in the privacy statement.
- You are responsible for having a lawful basis for the research data you upload — including participant consent where required.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Lens to store or share unlawful content, to infringe others’ rights, to attempt to breach the isolation between workspaces, or to probe, disrupt, or overload the service. We may suspend accounts that put the service or other customers at risk.
AI features
- AI features are optional and run against the provider your workspace configures, using your own API key; that provider’s terms apply to those requests.
- AI output is generated assistance, not fact — review it before relying on it. Generated content is labelled and editable in the app.
- We do not use your research data to train AI models.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Lens available and safe, including encryption and tenant isolation, but the service is provided “as is” without a guaranteed availability level unless agreed in a contract. We may improve or change features over time; if a change materially reduces the service, we’ll tell you in advance where reasonably possible.
Fees
Paid plans, seat counts, and any trial terms are as agreed when your workspace is set up. If fees apply, they are invoiced per that agreement.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability under these terms is limited to the fees paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Lens and close your workspace at any time; export your data first. We may terminate for material breach that isn’t cured within 30 days of notice. After closure, data is deleted per the privacy statement.
Discontinuing the service
We may discontinue Lens on three months’ written notice. During the notice period the service stays available and you can export your data at any time. We will refund, pro rata, any fees paid for a period after the service ends. On request we will provide the self-hosted edition so your team can keep running Lens on its own infrastructure, and we will help you move your data to it.
Assignment
You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer these terms in full to a legal entity we establish or control that continues to operate Lens, on notice to you; your rights under these terms are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and disputes belong to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless a signed agreement says otherwise.
